The ripple affect

on September 7, 2014

Considering rebellion was on the rise (speaking of many years ago, like the 1950’s to 1990), and cities rapidly growing. The introduction of television and then most impressively the invention that changed the world faster than anything; w.w.w.

This means your cool.

Aka the World Wide Web. It took just one person to create a trend. (Example, sagging pants, pants inside-out and backwards, slicked back greased hair, and the quite popular, the “Hollywood style sunglasses”. The popularity of the iPhone when it came out was shocking. In an article I read on, smallbusiness.chron.com, it talked about why the iPhone is so popular with so many people. Impressively within the first 4 years Apple Inc. sold more than 100 million phones. And more shockingly 18.6 million of those, sold within the first quarter. Now I am no math genius but, ya feel me? Wow! This article, which was written by Jason Artman, is claiming the reason for such popularity of the iPhone is due to the ability to control both the hardware and software. Tons of people don’t even know what those are. *chuckles* Again, I have to give a crooked eye to that claim. I worked for Apple doing tier 3 technical support. All day I did my best at helping iPhone users only, how to use and repair (or not) their phone. Even for me, the functionality of the iTunes store was not a user friendly program. Funny consideration too, the iPhone user manual is so large that the only way you can view it is online. That right there screams complicated. Personally, I’m not really buying Mr. Artman’s explanation of the why this device is so popular.

None of which doubled as a camera. Matter of fact, they only made phone calls.

This is an easy answer. The iPhone was commercialized, big time, long before it came out. It was talked up as being the future-of-today for mobile communication. Then once the celebrities and A-list people exclaim how great it is, and you just have to try it, boom! Society ran out and bought. People even slept in tents outside

electronic stores so they can save their spot in line until the store opened. (See attached photo) Point is, and I hope that you are following my logic here, is things become “cool things to do” because seemingly “cool people” are doing them and saying its so.  If it can be used to increase popularity on clothing or electronics, it can be used to show the young and old that we are all wonderful people. (For the most part.)
